This work is a 2014 redrawing of the old art originally called"Tropic"from a new perspective. Colleen Wilcox felt she had grown as an artist at the time and wanted to demonstrate that with this piece. Her painting technique was more detailed with delicate lines and subtle hues. I took my favorite tropical flowers and leaves like hibiscus, plumeria and monstera and washed them with background colors to create a bright and light feeling like a plant floating on water. The work is positive and engaging, reflecting Colleen's love of natural beauty.
